1. What is a CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture
It's like a coop - you join a a farm's CSA program and agree to pay a set amount for a period of time, usually quarterly. They deliver your weekly box of veggies to a pick-up point. The box contains whatever they have harvested that week, so you have no control over what you get - but that's part of the fun! I'll never forget the first time I picked up a Romenesco and said, "It's beautiful, but the WTF is it?"
Fortunately, they always include a list of what's in the box and a couple of recipes.
2. So what is a Romanesco?
Heavenly.
Oh wait. That's an adjective. This is a romanesco.
Isn't it amazing? A fractal vegetable.
And yes. They taste heavenly.

This is too much fun: my CSA has a blog. This is the farm from which I get a box of vegetables every week.
Wait - they have two blogs, and here are the links:

I realize it's probably not as exciting to you as it is to me, but I wanted to share anyway. Everybody needs a farm break once in a while.
BTW, I walk four miles today. It's discouraging to realize how few calories that burns.
